Great Day at the Rink

Several ex-Petes and Intermediate Kawartha Komets
As they say..."a great time was had by all" at the Peterborough Memorial Centre today.

The Intermediate Jack McGee Kawartha Komets defeated the Peterborough Petes Alumni approximately 14-12 or was it 22-19 (oh, who cares) in the first game.  It was the most entertaining game we've seen in a long time.  The Harlem Globetrotters have nothing on Mike Martone and his fellow ex-Petes.  Andrew Verner (ex-Pete and present Petes' goalie coach) stood on his head for most of the game and couldn't be blamed for one of the goals...or 10 of them.  Actually he should have stopped them all but he had a late bus ride home from Kitchener last night.  Sorry, Andrew!

Seriously, the ex-Petes need to be commended for playing such a "fun" and entertaining game.  We hope to make this an annual event.

In the 2nd game the Junior Komets went down to defeat to the Cambridge Ice Hounds but in the 3rd and final game the Senior Komets pulled out a big win over the Ice Hounds.

The players, the parents, the fans, the referees, the coaches, the volunteers, the fans and the Memorial Centre staff had a great time today.

More of the same brand of hockey next Saturday in Cambridge.

Blaze Komets, Blaze!
